FAQs

How do I maintain my freshly sharpened knives/tools for as long as possible after services?

There are a few measures you can take to ensure your knife retains it’s sharpness for as long as possible:

  1. Only hand wash knives. Never throw them in the dishwasher or leave them in the sink. This will dull them and is highly unsafe.

  2. Always wipe down your knives while using them, and clean immediately after use. Dry and put away right after cleansing. Even if its stainless steel, no metal is truly stainless, and will eventually rust or splotch if left wet/messy long enough.

  3. Try to ensure you’re using your knife or tool for the task it was meant for. For example, don’t use a long slicer for chopping, a pocket knife for a screwdriver, or a wood chisel to open a can of paint. Improper use will cause your item to wear out fast or potentially break, and (especially with knives) learning proper technique can only help with edge retention.

Where can I bring my knives/tools for service?

We are a small operation and currently work out of the home, thus we do not offer the option to have items brought to us. To make up for this inconvenience, we offer pick-up and return services. For orders under $20, a $5 delivery fee is applied to cover cost of gas. Simply fill out the order form and wait for us to arrive on the selected date.

How does pricing for major repairs/alterations vary?

Repairing large chips, broken tips, or performing profile alterations to a blade typically requires a lot more removal of steel. Thus, it requires more work/time than a standard sharpening service. Because of this pricing for this type of work isn’t exact and requires a visual inspection before an estimate can be made.

Do you offer discounted rates for commercial services?

Commercial pricing is negotiated on a case-by-case basis, depending on the frequency and the needs of the client. Special rates for commercial services are only offered when a recurring service contract is drawn up and in place.

Can I get same day service?

Yes, we do offer expedited sharpening services. These will be charged the regular fee, plus an additional 20% surcharge to non-service industry professionals. However, this fee is waived for service industry professionals due to their long, unpredictable work hours.
